Up and down the country people worked hard to help raise funds for the 2015 Armada Portrait appeal. Seven-year-old Christina Ryder, a pupil at Wakefield Girls’ high school decided to raise money by selling 400 cupcakes decorated with images of Elizabeth I, she even dressed for the occasion donning a ruff and costume inspired by the painting. Christina’s mother, Jennifer Ryder, said

Christina says it is her dream to go to London and see the portrait, and she’s worried that if it gets sold she’ll never get to see it.

All of the funds Christina raised helped towards the appeal and she was able to come and see the painting once it had been hung at the Queen’s House.

Thank you from all of us Christina!
